Hi, I was just wondering which is the best and most scenic route for the above drive? Both drives are scenic, in different ways.. I always take 1 down to Monterey. A good few hours. Are you stopping in Santa Cruz? Drive out Jetty Road to see marine mammals in the slough area and possibly to see whales out in Monterey Bay. I'd pick highway 1.

Can anyone tell me about how many hours it takes to drive to Monterey from SFO. I was trying to get an idea from the airport. We are landing at am so we wont be leaving the airport until like noon or so. I have No idea what the traffic will be like. I think we are going to stay at the Portala Plaza Hotel does anyone have an opinoun? Quickest would be southbound to Watsonville area.
